Welcome to the Booksatbackwell Library Blog, where we offer the school community a less formal insight into our work and link you up to a wealth of documents, websites and reports to support reading, studies and research, whether in traditional print or digital.

Layout 1

Year 7 (many of whom are already amazing readers and knowledgeable about authors and series!) have a fortnightly Library lesson with Mr Brooks who sets regular reading homework. Students receiveĀ  a brochure containing expectations and suggestions to help you support them with this.

Parents – encouraging reading for pleasure

All KS3 students have a regular, fortnightly Reading Lesson here in the Library where they can choose a book to read in the lesson and borrow it for two weeks to take home. During Y7 lessons we support students who struggle with reading for many different reasons: helping them choose a suitable book that will encourage them to read more, listening to them read talking about what they have read so far.
